I was trying to think of a fun way to tell Caleb that we are going to have another baby. He knows that babies come from their Mommy’s tummy so we thought it would be fun to take him to the ultrasound and let him find out that way. So I picked Caleb up and told him we were going somewhere special. I told him that we were going to see a doctor and they were going to see if there was a baby in my tummy. He asked a lot of questions about how to they look in there, if it would poke me, why the doctor thought there was a baby in there. To most of them I answered…”You will see when we get there”
We weren’t in the waiting room very long when the ultrasound tech came out and called my name. Tim hadn’t shown so I asked if we could wait a few min, she said she was on a schedule so we should just go in. So Caleb and I went in, he looked at the machine and didn’t say a word. Even when the tech asked him his name he didn’t answer and just stared at everything. Then he looked at that seat/table with the paper on it and asked if I was going to sit there. I said yes, there was a little chair for him to sit on. He sat down and just looked around at everything. He started to move the seat around since it had wheels but we told him to stay where he could see the TV. Then I lied down and we got started. I was wanting to watch both the screen to see the baby but also see Caleb’s face to see what he was thinking. She went to the face and I asked Caleb if he could see the baby in my tummy.
“It looks like a skeleton”
“Yeah, your right, it does. That’s the baby in my tummy.”
“Skeletons are bad and scary. Where is the skin?”
I thought he would really like seeing the baby and thought it would be a fun way for him to find out there was a baby in there. But now he thinks this baby looks like a scary skeleton. Tim came in shortly after and held Caleb during the rest of the ultrasound. Both of us thought it was so cool to be able to see so much detail. They have come a long way in 4 years since Caleb was that size. Caleb looks at my stomach a little strange now, he knows the baby is in there, but I think he is going to be very relieved when this baby is born and has skin and isn’t just a skeleton.
I have another blog for those of you who are bored and come to the internet for a little entertainment. My other blog is not about me or even Caleb but it is purely me copying and pasting those FWD emails that we all know and love. Every FWD that I have gotten for the last maybe year or so is up on that blog. That way you will never have to worry about getting a FWD email from me anymore because I will just assume that you read my other blog and don’t want those things clogging up your email anyway. Actually I don’t really expect you to check my blog I expect that you will do what I do to all of your blogs and add it to your RSS feed reader and see the latest forward that I have received that way.
So if and when you have some time to kill go spend some time at my other blog. I have arranged the entries by category so those with kids can read the kid ones, those that like touching life stories can read those and those that like to have fun and take quizzes to make them feel smarter may do that as well.
Happy reading!
