Why did God make…..?

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Every night before Caleb goes to bed the last thing he says is…
“Wait. Wait. Wait. Ummm, why did God make….” then here he could say anything. I usually try to answer him but sometimes I don’t know the answer and sometimes I make my best guess.

“Why did God make bushes and not just trees?”
“Because rabbits and other animals live in bushes and they can’t climb trees to make their houses”

“Why did God make doors?”
“So that we can close them so that your room will be quiet so you can sleep.”

“Why did God make pirates?”
“To make sure not just one person has all the gold.”

“Why did God make babies cry?”
“Because if they whispered we wouldn’t be able to hear them.”

“Why did God make allergies?”
“So that not everyone would have cats or dogs or rabbits in their house.”

“Why did God make shadows?”
“So we know where the lights aren’t shining.”

“Why did God make chickens like birds and the chicken that you eat?”
“Umm, I don’t know…its weird they have the same name huh?”

My favorite one so far…
“Why did God make stores and not just Costco?”
We just laughed and said that is a good question, we don’t know why that is either.

3-2-1

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Today Tyler is 3 months old. He has obviously grown and changed a lot in these 3 months. Tyler is a people person and loves to smile at people. He has laughed a few times, but always stopped as soon as we turn the video camera on. He is reaching for things and is grabbing things now, hair seems to be a favorite thing to grab onto. Lately he has been working hard to get his thumb in his mouth and keep it there, this is a harder task then it sounds. Tyler is still a good eater and today weighed in at 15lbs. One more pound and he will double his birth weight. He is attempting to roll from his back to his stomach, but hasn’t even tried to roll from stomach to back…which is what the baby books and experts say he should do first. So maybe we have a rebel on our hands.

As of tomorrow, Otis has been with us 2 years. He still will not allow anyone else to cut his hair, or even give him a bath. So while I would be happy to leave him somewhere and pay for someone to cut his hair and bathe him, he won’t allow it. So instead he gets hosed off outside by Caleb and then the 2 of us soap him up and Caleb gets to spray him again. Then he has to deal with me and a pair of scissors trying to cut his hair. His last haircut started when Tyler fell asleep and ended when he woke up. So he doesn’t have the cutest hair cut in the world but hair isn’t covering his eyes anymore and it is basically short it most places.

This month marks 1 year that we have been in this house. We have made some changes to the house in the last year. Many of the walls have been painted, the fireplace has been re-done and we have a new fence in the back yard. There are some things that we said we would change right away, that are still the same today. The “crystal” chandelier has yet to be replaced with something that we actually like, along with the kitchen and bathroom lights that match it. The plan was to expand the closet under the stairs, and filled with more stuff, that is still in the plans. Although I don’t know exactly what would go in there, we seem to have no problem filling up space with stuff. It was amazing when we moved in to this house from our mobile home we thought we had so much more space to put stuff plus a garage, but somehow we managed to fill this place up without any problems.
